11/13/2006The day after Donna and I attended my High School reunion, we went to Annapolis to do some sightseeing and shopping etc. There are obviously some history lessons here at our State Capital. We found a little museum on the corner (Annapolis History Center; History Quest) that had information about four locals who were all signers of the Declaration of Independance. Their houses are all still there. They were William Paca, Samuel Chase, Charles Carroll and Thomas Stone. The History Center has a short video that you can watch that tells a lot about the events from that time period.
Here are some photos I took. The third is a statue of Roger B Taney, Chief Justice of the United States for whom Taneytown was named. The sixth is a statue of Thurgood Marshall and the last is of a statue of Alex Haley (author of “Roots”) reading to some children.
